Marie Jorgenson (Peterson)

Marie K. Peterson, 41, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. (from breast cancer)


Marie Jorgensen was born Feb. 28, 1962, in Fort Dodge. She attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1980. Following her education, she became employed with her parents at Jim's Texeco as Assistant Manager until 2000, when her parents retired. On May 5, 1984, she was united in marriage to David Petersen at Grace Lutheran Church and they established their home in Fort Dodge. Marie was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and remembered by many.


Surviving is her husband David; a daughter Nicole at home; parents James and Kamma Jorgensen of Fort Dodge; brother James D. Jorgensen and his wife Nicole of Fort Dodge; sisters Bobette Humphrey and her husband Scott of Fort Dodge; and Julie Jorgensen of Fort Dodge; and grandmother Ethel Reeck of Fort Dodge. She was proceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry and Charlotte Jorgensen.

Marie was in my class in elementary school. She was a great class mate. I am very sad you are gone!

Marie was in my homeroom at North Junior High and at the High School. Her parents owned a full-service gas station on 15th Street between 7th & 8th Ave. No. I remember Marie working for her parents when the station did service work on cars and later when they sold bird houses, feeders and bird food. I frequently purchased gas there and saw Marie when I went in to pay. Marie was always 100% pleasant and friendly.

I was shocked when I stopped by her sister's business and asked her sister to have Marie call me regarding the class reunion. Somehow I had missed the obituary in the newspaper and had no idea that Marie had passed away from breast cancer. How tragic. Marie was a very special classmate and will be missed by all who knew her.

Marie was married to another 1980 classmate, David Petersen.

All I can say is- Marie was the sweetest girl through-out my schooling, We were in the same kindergarten class. I will always look up to Her!!!

Dave Peterson was a neighbor of mine. He and Marie were very much in love. She fought her cancer for a very long time, Marie i believe was tired of fighting and now she is free of all her pain and conflict. Bless you Marie.

Marie and I were in the same homeroom, and she was truly the sweetest girl I've ever known... I'm sad to hear she has past, and I send my condolences to her family of this great loss to them..  Diane Johnson Johnke.
